South Africa, the Springboks, are the reigning world champions and the only team to have won the Rugby World Cup four times, in 1995, 2007, 2019 and 2023. Their 2023 title came through three one-point knockout wins: 29-28 against France in the quarter-final, 16-15 against England in the semi-final and 12-11 against New Zealand in the final.
