Northampton were founded in 1880 as Northampton St James, which is where both the Saints name and the old nickname, the Jimmies, come from. They became champions of Europe in 2000 by winning the Heineken Cup, and they have won the English Premiership three times, in 2014, 2024 and 2026, the last of them with a 26-17 win over Exeter in the final at Twickenham.
